Validated gang member pleads guilty to Campus Edge Apartments shooting

first_img On June 6, 2017, a 911 call came in just before 2 a.m. about a man suffering a gunshot wound at Campus Edge Apartment complex near UNC-Wilmington. The victim, who was standing in the parking lot, was shot in the leg.Law enforcement was able to develop evidence that Jenkins, who was wearing an ankle monitor while on probation for a previous assault, was in the area at the time of the shooting. He was arrested on Dock Street on June 21, 2017, and the victim identified Jenkins as the man who shot him. Officials say Jenkins is a validated gang member and has previous convictions for Assault on a Government Official, Driving While Impaired, Sell/Deliver Heroin, and Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury.
