Essequibo trio granted bail for robbery with violence

first_imgDensel Castello, Joel Christopher and Khalid Macnikil of Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) were on Tuesday granted 0,000 bail each for the charge of robbery with violence. The trio made their first appearance before Magistrate Sunil Scarce at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court.Police allege that on August 28, 2016, at Charity Back Street, they robbed Wayne Narine of a gold chain valued 0,000. It is also alleged that during and after the robbery, the trio used violence against the Virtual Complainant (VC).Representing Castello and Macnikil was Attorney Onassis Granville. She told the court that both of her clients were 22 years of age. She also said that the stolen chain was not found on either of the defendants and therefore proclaimed their innocence, as she pleaded for a reasonable bail.Meanwhile, an unrepresented Christopher told the court he was 18 years old and resided at Henrietta Village. He also told the court that he works in the interior.Police Prosecutor Haimraj Ramsewack did not object to bail and it was granted in the sum of 0,000 for each defendant. They are expected to return to court on September 26.As a condition to their bail, the trio is expected to report to the Charity Police Station every Monday. Failing to do so can very well lead to a revocation of bail.last_img
