first_img Facebook WhatsApp Youngsters urged to be safe over graduation weekends Twitter Facebook Home Local News Crime Police find firearms, narcotics; two arrested Police searching for man connected to hit and run Two suspects were charged Thursday, one of them a convicted felon, after a search warrant revealed a stockpile of firearms and cocaine inside of their residence.Police were first called around 5:49 p.m. Thursday about a man with a gun driving erratically in the 3100 block of North Hancock Avenue, an Odessa Police Department press release said.Upon arrival, police made contact with the complainant, who told them when he confronted the suspect, 23-year-old Ruben Marquez, the suspect stated “you wanna fight me” and brandished a black handgun, the release detailed.Officers saw Marquez at a residence in that block, the release stated, and made contact with him. At which point, they could smell marijuana from his residence, and detained Marquez and obtained a search warrant for his residence.Inside the residence, the release stated officers made contact with a woman, 23-year-old Danisha Carroll, with four children, all under the age of 9.While searching the residence, officers found a black Kahr CM 9mm semi-automatic pistol, a Diamond AR-15 rifle, around 97.7 grams of cocaine, multiple bags of marijuana and multiple scales, the release said.While officers took Marquez to the back of their patrol unit, he pulled his arms free of the officer and ran southbound on Hancock Avenue, the release stated. He was eventually captured and continued to resist arrest.The release detailed Marquez was a convicted felon and had a prior conviction for evading.Police charged Marquez with delivery of cocaine, a first-degree felony, two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, a third-degree felony, evading arrest, a state jail felony, resisting arrest, a class A misdemeanor, and possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor.Carroll was also charged with delivery of cocaine and possession of marijuana.Jail records show Marquez was taken to the Ector County Detention Center Thursday and had six bonds totaling $165,500, and Carroll was booked Friday and has two bonds totaling $100,500.
